FAQs
General
We advise that you wait 72 hours between applications.
Nair Hair Removers exfoliate skin in addition to removing hair, so using it before a self tanning product will help you to have a more even tan. Wait 24 hours between using Nair products and tanning.
As a precaution, we advise not to use any Nair products on skin which has been shaved in the last 72 hours.
If you have no adverse or allergic reaction when testing the product as per the directions for use and precautions, there is no reason why you cannot use it. Conducting a small patch test will help.
Yes, you should. The skin is very sensitive and can frequently change its composition with changes in your hormone levels. Since your skin is constantly in a state of change, we advise that it is necessary (not just desirable) to do a patch test each time to avoid any adverse reactions to the ingredients in our products. This is despite our rigorous dermatological testing process – as everyone’s skin is different, at different points.
Cream Products
As a precaution, we advise you to wash your hands thoroughly after applying and removing the Nair™ product before continuing with your normal shower routine.
Most Nair™ cream products can be used for a period of 3 years from the date of manufacture printed on the pack.
We advise that you wait at least 24 hours before using any of the above.
No. It is advisable that your skin is clear from cuts or abrasions as you apply the cream.
No, it doesn't affect the rate your hair grows back, nor the thickness of the hair shaft. Depilatories contain ingredients that work by breaking the chemical bonds that hold hair together. The bonds give hair strength and structure, so when you break these bonds, the hair can easily be washed/wiped away and removed.
Depilatory creams work by dissolving the hair just below the surface of the skin whereas shaving sharply cuts the hair off at the skin surface. This means you’re not left with unattractive prickly stubble whilst the Nair™ creams help moisturise and exfoliate your skin.
In three ways:
- Unlike a razor, depilatory products remove hair just below the skin surface. Hairs emerge from pores - and depilatories dissolve both visible hair and some of the hair in the pore. This means it takes longer for the hair to grow back.
- A depilatory acts as an exfoliant, removing unwanted dead (often rough) skin cells on your skin surface.
- Many depilatories (including all Nair™ depilatories) contain moisturising agents, such as Baby Oil, Almond Oil and Aloe Vera, which assist in giving you softer, smoother skin.
Depilatory creams will give you smoother skin for days longer than shaving. However, the follicle is not removed from the root, being only removed at or slightly below skin level. Also, as it is chemical based, you’re advised to not leave creams on your skin longer than advised on the pack.
Irritation or allergic reactions may occur with some people even after prior use without adverse effects. The skin composition also frequently changes.
Depilation (means ‘removing the hair’). A depilatory is simply a cream or lotion for removing unwanted hair. A strong, alkaline based cream is placed on the hair and reacts with the protein structure of the hair to break down the hair follicle, until it turns jelly-like. The depilatory hair removal process takes between 3 - 10 minutes before it can be easily wiped off with a warm towel or washed off with water. It's considered to be a fast, inexpensive and easy method of hair removal.

Wax Products
No, as a general rule, waxing the legs is relatively easy and straight forward. You should take greater care in testing when you need to wax your underarms, face and bikini line, as the skin is more sensitive.
Most Nair products can be used for a period of 3 years from the date of manufacture printed on the pack, unless otherwise indicated on the pack. It is important to follow storage conditions.
Yes, you can use baby oil to remove any remaining wax.
Results can last for several weeks. If hair re-grows within a day or two you probably need to practice your technique as you may be snapping off the hair rather than removing from the root. See pack for detailed instructions.
The general guideline for Nair™ Wax products is 1-week's hair growth; however, for Sensitive Strip Free Wax products the hair only has to be 2mm. Follow product use and warning instructions for each specific product.
