Step 1 Patch Test

Always do a patch test before each use. Apply a test sample to a small area where product will be used following the basic instructions, wait 24 hours, if skin appears normal, proceed.

Step 2 Cleanse

Wash area to be waxed with mild soap and water, dry thoroughly. For best results apply talcum power to the area to be treated.

Step 3 Heat

Remove the jar from its cardboard packaging. Open the jar and remove the protective film making sure that there are no traces of plastic around the edge of the jar. Do not allow water to come into contact with the wax as the wax cannot then be used. Check that the jar of wax is not visibly damaged.

Place jar and nothing else (no lid, protective film, spatula, cardboard packaging or any other accessory) in the microwave oven on the outside of the turntable. Do not cover the jar whilst heating. Ensure that the microwave is set to “Heat”.

Set the microwave oven to the 900W heating power and then adjust the heating time strictly in accordance with the heating directions given in the following table.

FULL TUB – 30 SECONDS*

½ TUB – 20 SECONDS*

* Heating time given as a guide for a 900W microwave oven.

  • Monitor the product during heating in order to stop the microwave immediately if anything unusual occurs (sparks, smoke, overflow wax, etc.).
  • After heating, touch the jar gently to check that it is not too hot before you pick it up.
  • Carefully remove the jar from the microwave, keeping it upright to prevent the wax from spilling.
  • If, after heating, the wax is very fluid, bubbles are present or the jar is deformed, then the wax has been overheated. Do not touch the jar. Leave it to cool for at least 15 minutes before handling.

NOTE: TAKE EXTREME CAUTION NOT TO OVERHEAT. NEVER LEAVE THE HEATING WAX UNATTENDED.

FOLLOW THE ENCLOSED INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY TO AVOID ANY RISK OF BURNING.

Step 4 Mix

After heating to the desired temperature, use the wooden spatula to mix the wax until smooth and uniform, take a small amount of wax on the tip of the spatula and apply on the inside of the wrist to check wax temperature before hair removal.

Step 5 Apply
  • Preferably sit in a tiled or covered area so that you can easily remove any wax residue that may fall onto the floor.
  • Place the jar of hot wax on a flat, protected (with a newspaper, for example) surface.
  • Any wax residue can be rinsed off with warm water.
  • Immerse the spatula in the jar and take out a large knob of wax on the tip of the spatula. Turn the spatula over to prevent the wax from running or dripping. With the edge of the spatula make a thin uniform layer in the direction of hair growth to form a strip of fine, even wax. The layer of wax must not exceed the length of one non-woven strip.

Step 6 Remove

Working quickly, place the non-woven strip on the wax, firmly smoothing it down in the direction of the hair growth. Always check the last 1 cm or so of the strip is wax-free in order to facilitate removal. Pull the skin tight with one hand and using the other hand remove the strip rapidly in the opposite direction of hair growth as close as possible to the skin.

NOTE

  • If any wax is left on the skin after removing the non-woven strip, reapply the strip to remove any residue.
  • A non-woven strip can be used several times in succession.

Advice For Specific Areas

Legs
Apply the wax, working from the top of the leg towards the ankle. Remove the wax in the opposite direction.

Underarms
Underarm hair removal should be carried out in two steps, as the hair grows in two different directions (at the top towards the top and at the bottom towards the bottom).

  1. Place your hand behind your neck to tighten the skin.
  2. On the upper section of the underarm: Apply the wax towards the elbow and remove the strip in the opposite direction, pulling back quickly and as close to the skin as possible.
  3. On the lower section of the underarm: Apply the wax towards the bottom. Remove the strip in the opposite direction, pulling back quickly and as close to the skin as possible.

Bikini
Apply the wax in the direction of the hair growth, generally towards the inside of the thighs, smooth wax strip on firmly in direction of hair growth, hold skin taut and remove strip in the opposite direction, as close to skin as possible.

After Hair Removal

Any wax residue can be rinsed off with warm water.

Slightly red patches may appear after hair removal. This is perfectly normal and the patches will disappear naturally after a few hours. Apply a cold water compress for a few minutes to soothe the skin and dispel the red patches.

Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun for 24 hours following hair removal in order to prevent adverse reactions. Wait at least 12 hours before applying a deodorant, anti-perspirant, perfume or toning product to the waxed area.

The strips and spatula can be easily washed in warm water, red dye from the wax may remain on fingers after washing the strips, this will wear off over time.

IF THERE IS ANY WAX LEFT OVER FOR THE NEXT SESSION:

  • Do not leave the spatula in the jar. Remove most of the wax by scraping the spatula against the inside edge of the jar. Store the pot in an upright position to prevent leakage of wax.
  • Carefully adjust the heating time for the remaining amount.
  • Store the jar in the cardboard box with the instructions for use, clean spatula and non-woven strips until the next session.

Professional Tips For Successful Hair Removal
  • Exfoliate your skin 24 hours prior to hair removal: The wax will adhere to the hair more easily and the process will be more effective.
  • To soothe the skin after removing a strip, immediately apply the palm of your hand to the waxed area and press lightly.
  • If any large quantities of wax remain on the skin, do not hesitate to remove them with a used non-woven strip.
  • Apply a moisturising cream or oil to soothe the area immediately after waxing.
  • Exfoliate once a week and moisturise the skin every day to prevent hair regrowth.
We advise that you wait 72 hours between applications.
No, as a general rule, waxing the legs is relatively easy and straight forward. You should take greater care in testing when you need to wax your underarms, face and bikini line, as the skin is more sensitive.
Nair Bikini and Underarm Roll On WaxMost Nair products can be used for a period of 3 years from the date of manufacture printed on the pack, unless otherwise indicated on the pack. It is important to follow storage conditions.
Yes, you can use baby oil to remove any remaining wax. If using Nair™ Roll-On Facial Wax use warm water and a clean cloth to remove unwanted wax residue.
Results can last for several weeks. If hair re-grows within a day or two you probably need to practice your technique as you may be snapping off the hair rather than removing from the root. See pack for detailed instructions.
The general guideline for Nair™ Wax products is 1-week's hair growth; however, for Salon Divine™ wax products the hair only has to be 2mm. Follow product use and warning instructions for each specific product.
Nair Hair Removers exfoliate skin in addition to removing hair, so using it before a self tanning product will help you to have a more even tan. Wait 24 hours between using Nair products and tanning.
No. It is advised that you wait at least 24 hours before heading out into the sun, please always use a sunscreen.
As a precaution, we advise not to use any Nair products on skin which has been shaved in the last 72 hours.
If you have no adverse or allergic reaction when testing the product as per the directions for use and precautions, there is no reason why you cannot use it. Conducting a small patch test will help.
Yes, you should. The skin is very sensitive and can frequently change its composition with changes in your hormone levels. Since your skin is constantly in a state of change, we advise that it is necessary (not just desirable) to do a patch test each time to avoid any adverse reactions to the ingredients in our products. This is despite our rigorous dermatological testing process – as everyone’s skin is different, at different points.
